SingCR0nise – New Addington’s Community Choir

SingCROnise is New Addington’s Community Choir. Established in November 2008, the choir now has a membership in the region of 50 people, although around 30 sing regularly with the choir. It’s open to anyone over the age of 18 and also to children in school year 7 and above when accompanied by a parent/guardian. It’s free of charge and rehearsals take place at the New Fieldway Centre, on most Sundays during term time, from 7-8pm. (check below for rehearsal dates or email new.addington@salvationarmy.org.uk to confirm whether a rehearsal is taking place on a particular week) The choir sings a range of music, from contemporary Gospel (Mary, Mary, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton) to Pop/Rock (Michael Jackson, Adele, Bill Withers etc.) to songs from the Shows! SingCROnise is a choir for all abilities. If you’ve never sung before or if you just can’t stop singing, you’ll fit right in. Songs are taught by rote – that is, you don’t need to be able to read music or even words. Many of our members have been amazed at how they’ve progressed from feeling nervous initially to confidently singing in 3 part harmony! The choir is led by Matt (NASA Community Church leader), who firmly believes that SingCROnise’s priority number 1 is having a good time. Rehearsals are fun with lots of laughter! Choir members come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some go to church, some don’t; some are confident singers, some are slowly growing in confidence. What they have in common is a love of singing with others. There’s nothing quite like the uplifting feeling of singing with a choir, and we think there’s no better way to start the week than with a SingCROnise rehearsal! Why not come along and give it a try?
